David Lorentzen, Psy.D.
I am a psychologist specializing in the treatment of men, boys, teens, and providing support for parents.
In working with men, I provide support and strategies to handle life transitions, improve relationships with loved ones, overcome worries, sadness, and destructive habits, and build confidence. I am up-to-date with current research in treating depression, anxiety, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder, and adult ADHD.
I also specialize in therapy with boys and male teens, helping with ADHD, behavior problems, self-esteem issues, coping with major life transitions, and fighting within the family. If your son acts-out, seems distractible, or needs someone to talk to during difficult times, I can help.
My approach starts with forming a relationship with you or your child. I work to be flexible, meet your needs, and provide a personal experience. As a former camp director, I bring a playfulness and friendliness that kids and teens respond to well.
I have been in private practice for fifteen years and have also previously worked in several clinics and at an inpatient psychiatric hospital. I am also a former director at Tom Sawyer Camps in Pasadena, a nationally renowned day camp for school-aged children.
I have completed specialized training in child therapy, ADHD treatment, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for common conditions such as Depression, Anxiety disorders, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in both adults and children.
In addition to my clinical practice, I offer workshops at area schools, teach, and lecture. I am on the Board of Directors of the San Gabriel Valley Psychological Association and a member of the California Psychological Association.
